José Teixeira (JT) is a Researcher in the MitoPerOx ¿ Mitochondrial-Peroxisome Metabolic and Redox Crosstalk group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), University of Coimbra (UC), Portugal. José Teixeira graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Portugal) and obtained the MSc in Biochemistry and the PhD studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Porto (Portugal). JT research interests is focused to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying mechanotransduction impact on the role of mitochondria and peroxisome in lipid and ROS metabolism during the progression of oxidative stress-related pathologies, notably Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), and in the development and evaluation of the potential biological effects of mitochondria-targeted antioxidants based on naturally dietary scaffolds as a therapeutic solution. The results of his investigation (2010-2023) are patent 42 peer-reviewed publications (31 being original articles), counting over 1000 citations and an h-index of 19. JT is also a co-inventor in 2 patent applications (WO2018069904 and WO2018122789).
