Ozan Cetinaslan is a junior researcher with the prestigious FCT CEEC individual contract (8% success rate) at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in Porto, Portugal. He obtained his PhD from Computer Science Department of Faculty of Science, University of Porto (FCUP) in 2016. His research interests lie in the field of computer graphics and visual computing for computer games, featured animation movies and special effects. He has an extensive research experience on facial animation, character animation, physics-based animation by using numerical programming, numerical methods, optimization, high-performance parallel computations on GPU and CPU, inverse problems and regression. He published almost all his contributions as the main author (first or single author) in the very well-known international computer graphics conferences and journals, such as Eurographics, EuroVis, ACM Siggraph MIG, High Performance Graphics, Computer Graphics Forum, Computers & Graphics, and more. As the main author, he was awarded with 3 Best Paper Awards. The few works that he contributed heavily as a co-author were published in the most prestigious venues in the field, such as ACM Siggraph Asia and Eurographics. He was also involved in many different research projects funded by PRR, EU/FP7 and FCT and collaborated with well-known international researchers such as J.P. Lewis, Darren Cosker, Mel Slater and more. He is an active reviewer of top computer graphics journals, such as ACM Transaction on Graphics, IEEE Transaction on Visualization and Computer Graphics and was part of the international program committee of Eurographics 2019 and GRAPP conferences. He was also part of the international program committee of ACM Siggraph 2025. Ozan has been also an invited assistant professor of Interactive Graphics Systems M.EIC course of DEI, FEUP besides his research activities. He has been responsible from practical classes of the course and conveys his knowledge to students for their practical project assignments. He supervised master students from FCUP and FEUP and mentored many international students. Currently, he is responsible for the supervision of a postdoc researcher. Since Ozan already has a significant industry experience as a professional engineer in an international company based in Istanbul, Turkey for almost 7 years, he maintains active relations with the industry for the knowledge transfer to the community and companies. He provided consultancy services to companies about the principles of visual computing and numerical methods. He performed public talks and is the owner of the open-source licenses for publicly shared open-source projects.
