Dr. Guilherme Pereira Paim received his Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) in Microelectronics with maximum distinction from UFRGS at Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2021. He obtained a five-year engineering degree in Electronics Engineering, being ranked in the first place from UFPel (Universidade Federal de Pelotas), Pelotas, Brazil, 2015. He developed part of his Ph.D. as visiting researcher at the Chair for Embedded Systems (CES) led by Prof. Jörg Henkel at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, in co-supervision with the Chair of Semiconductor Test and Reliability (STAR) led by Prof. Hussam Amrouch at University of Stuttgart, Germany. He produced more than 75 research papers in his career. Dr. Paim published an IET book chapter on Low-power Techniques for Video Processing in 2019. During 2021, he worked as postdoc researcher at UFRGS. Currently, he is a postdoc at the INESC-ID, Instituto Superior Técnico, ULisbon, Portugal. Dr. Paim is a member of the two transnational projects, one FCT-CAPES led by Prof. Paulo Flores (Portuguese side) and Prof. Sergio Bampi (Brazilian side) and another from DAAD-CAPES (Brazil-Germany). On the academic services, Dr. Paim is a Review Editor of the Frontiers in Imaging at the Image Coding section of the Journal Board Editorial. He also has contributed as a reviewer of many top IEEE Transactions journals such as TCAS-I, TCAS-II, TCSVT, TVLSI, TPDS, TNSRE and conferences like IEEE ISCAS, ICECS, MWSCAS, LASCAS, APPCAS, and SBCCI. He was general chair of the IEEE 11th CASSW-RS and the 3rd Young Professionals Conference in 2022. Between 2016-2019 he served as Vice President of the Student Branch of the IEEE CAS Society RGS Chapter, Brazil. He also organized two special sessions on cross-layer approximate computing for IEEE ISCAS and LASCAS in 2022. Dr. Paim has contributed to installing and managing the servers infrastructure and the tools for VLSI design (e.g., Cadence Systems) at the UFRGS labs. Before joining the Ph.D, he was an assistant professor (non-tenured position) at UFPel teaching electricity, magnetism, and electromagnetic theory for bachelor students. During his Ph.D. at UFRGS, he also worked as a trainee professor, teaching classes in the bachelor- and master-level disciplines of Logic Circuits, Digital Systems, and VLSI Design.
