On the last 5 years, I have led research on complex multilayer networks to improve predictions of how communities respond to global change, and projected it internationally. I have published 34 SCI articles (80% in the Q1 of their field), being the corresponding author of 19/34, first author of 16/34, second author of 8/34, and senior author of 4/34 (h index = 11; i10 index = 15, number of citations = 441 in Google scholar; average citations/year = 51.4, accessed May 5, 2023). With researchers from more than 20 countries, I have published papers that reported discoveries and tested novel hypotheses that help to understand biological patterns and, overall, significantly advanced our understanding of ecosystem structure and functioning. I have contributed to 33 international conferences including 3 keynote talks and 11 invited lectures. I participated in the writing and implementation of 13 projects (2 as PI) funded through competitive calls, which attracted 5.7M€ in Spanish, US, and European funding, and my Marie Curie research proposal was awarded the Seal of Excellence by the HORIZON EUROPE MSCA. Throughout my career, I have spent more than 8 years in international research institutes and universities, working in some of the leading research groups in ecology in the world, and organized three international congresses, two international workshops, and two international symposiums. I have supervised 1 BSc project, 7 MSc theses (1 in progress), 1 chapter of a PhD student and 2 PhD students (1 in progress), and integrated 1 PhD jury. I am an honorary assistant professor of an official master at the U. Murcia, and have participated as a teaching assistant in another official master at the U. La Laguna de Tenerife, and I regularly contribute to the training of students. In 2022, I was positively evaluated by the ANECA as a Contracted Doctoral Professor. I am a regular reviewer for about 20 SCI journals and the editor of a current "special issue" in Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution. I join groups of specialists in invasive species, have been invited to give specialized courses (e.g. by the Berna Convention Group of Experts in IAS and CENEAM), and have been the Portuguese/Spanish representative in seven international scientific committees (e.g. LIFE programs). I have an active role in the European Alien Species Information Network and the Global Islands Database, and an active member of the SPECO, SIBECOL, SPEA, and LINC-Global. I regularly contribute to the popularization of science (e.g. Week of Science and International Day of Women and Girls in Science), and with articles in written press and interviews in national and international online press and newspapers.
