Isabel Cerca Miguel completed her PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Coimbra in 2010 and holds a degree in Psychology from the same institution (2005). She is Assistant Professor at the Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique, where she teaches in undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes in Psychology and has held several academic management and coordination responsibilities. Her research is situated within the field of Social Psychology, with a particular focus on social representations, ageing and ageism, intergenerational relations, grandparent-grandchild relationships, workplace age discrimination, wellbeing across the lifespan, and public perceptions of environmental sustainability issues, including plastic pollution and nanoplastics. She has authored more than 30 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, including publications in Aging & Mental Health, Ageing & Society, Current Psychology, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Educational Gerontology, Science of the Total Environment, and Journal of Hazardous Materials. Her work has achieved an h-index of 11 in Scopus, with more than 700 citations, reflecting sustained scientific impact. Isabel Miguel has participated in several nationally and internationally funded projects, including the Horizon Europe project CONCILIARE – Confidently Changing Colonial Heritage and the FCT-funded project NanoPlanet – Nanoplastics Toxicity Assessment: From Gene to Personality, where she leads the task dedicated to societal perceptions of plastics and dissemination activities. She was also awarded an individual doctoral fellowship by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She is currently an integrated researcher at RISE-Health@UPT and actively contributes to the development of Social Psychology research networks and knowledge transfer initiatives. She has supervised more than 50 completed master's dissertations and serves regularly on master's and doctoral examination committees. Her academic activities include editorial and peer-review responsibilities, currently serving as Associate Editor of Acta Psychologica Social and having acted as Guest Editor of the special issue Ageism, Health and Wellbeing in Frontiers in Psychology. She is also reviewer for numerous international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus.
