Luís Filipe Sanches Fernandes is an Full Professor in the disciplinary/scientific area of Civil Engineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and a Researcher at UTAD's Centre for Agro-environmental and Biological Research and Technologies (CITAB). He obtained the title of Aggregate in the Speciality of Civil Engineering in 2013/03/12 from the University of Évora, obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2002 from UTAD, obtained his Master's Degree in Municipal Engineering and Planning - Basic Sanitation in 1998/01/21 from the University of Minho, where he also graduated in Civil Engineering in 1993/07/19. He has published more than 120 articles (Scopus) and has an H index of 32. He has also published a number of book chapters, editorials and over a hundred and a half conference papers. He has been editor of several journals and has reviewed dozens of articles. He has been a member of scientific committees and organised around 20 events. Supervised 6 doctoral theses and around 40 master's dissertations. Has coordinated and participated in a number of scientific projects. He has participated in and coordinated more than 20 community outreach projects. His area of academic and scientific interest is hydraulics and water resources. He has been teaching at UTAD since 1995 and has established a series of links and partnerships with international institutions.
