I am Senior Researcher at the Centre for Ethics, Politics, and Society (CEPS) of the University of Minho - Portugal. Before the current position, I held an adjunct professorship at Luiss ¿Guido Carli¿ University of Rome - Department of Political Science, where I taught graduate and undergraduate courses in political philosophy, history of political thought, philosophy of social sciences, and bioethics. Since October 2020, I am editor of Ethics, Politics & Society, a newly established peer-reviewed open-access journal published by CEPS. I received a PhD in Philosophy of Law from University of Padua, and a Laurea in Philosophy from Sapienza University of Rome. During my PhD I studied at the University of California-Berkeley as EAP Visiting Graduate Student, and spent another stint as visiting student at the Sorbonne University, Paris IV. After my PhD I worked at Luiss University as Post-Doctoral Fellow. In 2006-2007 I was Program Director of the Luiss Summer School in Political Philosophy, and from 2006 till 2010 I coordinated the PhD Program in Political Theory at Luiss. I was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in 2010-2011. In 2014-2015 I was Resident Fellow at IMèRA -Institute for Advanced Study of Aix-Marseille University, and Hoover Chaire Honorary Fellow at the Université Catholique de Louvain. In 2015-16 I held a Research Fellowship at the National Research Council of Italy - Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS - CNR). The position was part of the Citi-Rights project, a partnership on European citizenship rights co-funded by the European Commission's DG Justice. In 2016-2017 I promoted and took part to the project ¿A Change of Direction. Fostering Whistleblowing in Europe in the Fight against Corruption¿, funded by the European Commission, later leaving the project to join the current position at Minho. In Italy I was also member of two National Research Projects (PRIN) funded by the Italian Ministry of Education on projects related to the social dimension of documentality. I am member of the Editorial Board of APhEx/ Portale italiano di filosofia analitica/ (ISSN 2036-9972) and of Ethics, Politics, and Society, a newly academic journal edited by CEPS. My current interests are in constitutional rights, the justification of dissent, and the epistemic aspects of rights and justice. My contributions on these and related subjects have appeared for Social Epistemology, Philosophy and Social Criticism, Philosophia, Philosophical Topics, and in edited volumes for Routledge and Continuum.  I am author, with Manohar Kumar, of "Speaking Truth to Power - A Theory of Whistleblowing", published by Springer International in 2018, a systematic analysis of the civic and political dimension of whistleblowing. In September 2018 I obtained the Italian National Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) as Associate Professor in Political Philosophy.
