Marta Pingarilho is an Assistant Professor of Global Public Health at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT), NOVA University Lisbon, Portugal, and Coordinator of the Master's Programme in Public Health and Development. She obtained her PhD in Genetics from NOVA Medical School in 2013, where her research focused on genetic toxicology, cancer, and epidemiology. She subsequently joined the Global Health and Tropical Medicine (GHTM) research center at IHMT-NOVA, where she developed expertise in HIV drug resistance, molecular epidemiology, and the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. Her research focuses on molecular epidemiology, HIV and other infectious diseases, antimicrobial and antiviral drug resistance, and global public health. She has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and management of national and international research projects, including ethical oversight, data management, and the analysis of large genomic, clinical, demographic, and socio-behavioural datasets. Much of her work addresses public health challenges affecting vulnerable populations, particularly migrants and communities in low- and middle-income African countries. Marta Pingarilho has served as principal or co-investigator in several nationally and internationally funded research projects. She has authored 51 peer-reviewed articles published in international indexed journals and three book chapters. Her work has received approximately 790 citations and has an h-index of 16. She has also presented her research at more than 60 national and international scientific conferences through oral and poster presentations.
