Dr. Ursula Gonzales-Barron, a Peruvian-Irish national, is a Food Engineer (Hns) with a PhD in Biosystems Engineering from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. She was a Senior Researcher at UCD, and is currently a Senior Investigator at CIMO Mountain Research Centre, Polytechnic Institute of Braganza, Portugal. She leads the reputed "Food Quality and Safety Modelling" research team made up of 12 members. Her current research focuses on predictive microbiology, meta-analysis and Bayesian statistics. She is also a Visiting Professor at the National Agricultural University La Molina, Peru. She has published >140 peer-reviewed articles, and has an H-index >30. She acts as Editor of the journal LWT, and speaks fluently English, Portuguese and Spanish.
