Cristina Manuela Peixoto Santos (cristina@dei.uminho.pt, https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0023-7203) (DEng,Msc,PhD,Habil), is Assistant Professor with habilitation at University of Minho, a researcher at Centre for Microelectromechanical Systems (http://www.cmems.uminho.pt/) and head of Bioinspired Robotic Devices Laboratory (BiRDLab) (http://birdlab.dei.uminho.pt/). She is head of Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering and Master in Industrial Electronics and Computer Engineering. She has participated in multiple national/European Projects in the field of robotics/neuroprosthetics applied for neurorehabilitation and industry. She coordinates INTEGRATOR (2022.15668.MIT), a joint project with MIT and Bosch. She coordinated SmartOs(PTDC/EEI-ROB/30386/2017;ANI/039868/2017) and EML(POCI-01-0247-FEDER-033067),budgeting 800keuros,both with industrial and academic partners. She participated in project Factory of the Future: Smart Manufacturing (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039479), work that is continued in FAIR (2022.05844.PTDC), These projects, with social impacts, transfer her research to clinical use through an interaction between engineers,end-users groups from Braga Hospital and national companies. Her work has been awarded several 1st and 2nd prizes by National Rehabilitation Institute(2016-2018, 2023), 1st prize in Robotics Portuguese Society SPR Phd 2023, MsC 2023 and MsC 2018, 1st prize in Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge2018 and Master Category 2019,and 3 best paper awards (ICARSC 2019, 2020, CLAWAR 2022). She was invited speaker in CLAWAR 2023. She has also actively participated in activities involving dissemination and communication in radio, television and several newspapers. She co-authored more than 185 scientific papers with co-authors from world-class institutions,1300 citations(h-index19) and 3 patents. Outputs from her work have strongly contributed to the state of the art either through scientific publications, as well as new methods and new datasets. Strong transfer potential has also been achieved in particular through the Smart walker of EML demonstrator project which is moving faster towards being commercialized and contributes positively to society. Further,she established international contacts and participated in European proposals ,enabling high degree of internationalization. She has several international collaborators with joint supervision of graduate students. She supervised 4Post-Doc,14PhD,100MSc students and was member of 23PhD juries. She is member of several program committee and invited guest-editor in Frontiers, Sensors and belongs to the editorial board of Scientific Data, organizing several workshops and special issues.She has been reviewer of the European Commission and in several journals and CORE Conferences.She has been invited to give talks and to participate in National Agenda for robotics 2030.
