Ana Catarina Galveias Jorge, who has a degree in Biology, a master's degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Évora, is an integrated member of the Earth Sciences Institute, ICT, and a collaborating member of the Hercules laboratory, cultural heritage, studies, and safeguarding. She is currently working as a Guest Researcher on an international project related to the specific detection of volatile organic compounds in pest-plant interactions (HORIZON-CL6-2021-FARM2FORK-01 - 101060634). Ana is also a member of the International Association for Aerobiology (IAA) and the Portuguese Society of Biochemistry (SPB), participating in the recently formed Junior Section. In addition to her assiduous participation in these scientific associations, Ana takes part in international projects COST CA 18226- "New approaches in detective of pathogens and aeroallergens (ADOPT)- Working Group for traits of bioaerosols (viability, allergenicity and genomic structure)" and in the AUTOPOLLEN project (EUMETNET - CA18226). Ana has so far published 7 articles in peer-reviewed journals with numerous citations (via SCOPUS). Her area of expertise falls within Human and Environmental Health, with a special focus on analyzing the air microbiome, specifically viruses, bacteria, pollen, and fungal spores. Ana is responsible for the monitoring system for bioaerosols relevant to human and environmental health, enabling the activity and maintenance of the ICT's pollen and fungal spore monitoring network, and is responsible for the data obtained from the Évora monitoring station located at the Atmospheric Sciences Observatory (EVASO) and the IPMA in Lisbon. These monitoring systems, for which Ana is responsible, enable integration into international pollen and fungal spore monitoring networks, namely the European Aeroallergen Network (EAN) and multiple international projects that depend on this network. All this can be seen in various publications in which Ana is first author and co-author (Galveias et al., 2024 (Submitted for review in STOTEN-S-24-00955 - http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4700933); Galveias et al., 2022; Galveias A., Arriegas R. et al., 2021; Galveias, Costa et al., 2021; Galveias, Lara et al., 2020; Buters et al., 2018), as well as an extended abstract (Galveias et al., 2021 - EMJ Allergy Immunol. 2020;5[1]: 43-44. Abstract Review No. AR4). Ana is also an expert in biochemical techniques, specifically electrophoretic/immunological techniques and in optical and electron microscopy. In the 2022/2023 academic year, Ana joined the teaching team of the Medical and Health Sciences department of the School of Health and Human Development at the University of Évora, teaching 2 curricular units, Methods, and Techniques in Biomedicine (CMS 1430L) for the Biomedical Sciences degree and Immunity and Environment (CMS11889M) for the Biochemistry master's degree. In terms of participation in national and international congresses, he has presented a total of 28 contributions in the form of panel and oral communications.
