Carlos Alexandre da Sillva Ribeiro

Carlos Alexandre da Sillva Ribeiro is a geologist. Completed his PhD in 2006 from the University of Évora. He is an Associated Professor at the University of Évora teching Marine Geology and Statistic and Data Analysis courses. He co-supervised 2 doctoral thesis, 2 master's dissertations and co-supervised 1. Supervised 1 bachelor's/degree course completion work. He participates and/or participated as an Investigator in 10 projects and as Principal Investigator in 3 projects. He is a integrated member of MARE - MARINE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES CENTRE and ARNET - AQUATIC RESEARCH NETWORK. He is a invited member of the expert Working Group on Marine Benthal and Renewable Energy Developments - ICES International Council for the Exploration of the Sea. He works on Earth and Environmental Sciences with an emphasis on Geology. Currently his research focus on marine geology and geological storage of CO2

Nesta comunicação tentaremos estabelecer os principais tipos de fácies apresentadas pelos tufos desta área do Algarve Central, articulando os mesmos com os potenciais paleoambientes de formação. Stable isotope signature of the Middle Holocene climatic change in the SW Iberia. Between 7.5 kyr and 4 kyr a fluvial limestone tuffs system developed in the south-western corner of Iberia. This system is characterised by a segmented up to 60 meters thick limestone sequence dated by radiocarbon. Cascatas da Ribeira de Asseca, Tavira, Portugal: um acidente geomorfológico testemunho de episódio ambiental efémero aos 7000 anos BP. As Cascatas da Ribeira de Asseca (Tavira), são um acidente morfológico de primeira ordem de grandeza no perfil da ribeira do mesmo nome. A cartografia geológica de pormenor efectuada sobre o terreno e trabalho subsequente de pormenor à escala do afloramento revelou tratar-se de um conjunto de três cascatas num trecho de 1,5 km, que levantam o nível de base de 11 m para 52 m.
