I got a BA in philosophy (2013-2017), an MA in Logic and Philosophy of Science (2017-2018), and an MA in Teacher Training (2018-2019) at the University of La Laguna, Spain. I completed my PhD in Communication (with a specialisation in argumentation theory) in November 2024 (with the highest grade in the Portuguese system: Muito Bom e Distinção por unanimidade) at the NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal. A series of prestigious scholarships and sponsorships fully supported my doctoral studies. In 2019, I was awarded a scholarship (UID/FIL/UI01883/2019) by IFILNOVA in collaboration with the COST Action ‘European Network for Argumentation and Public Policy Analysis’ (APPLY; PI: Marcin Lewinski). The following year, I won an FCT research scholarship for PhD candidates (2020.09683.BD) in the Philosophy panel that financed my work until 2024. In 2021, I obtained additional funding from the APPLY Action to fund a 1-month research visit at the Vita- Salute San Raffaele University (Milan, Italy) to work with Prof. Claudia Bianchi and Prof. Bianca Cepollaro. Finally, I obtained additional financial support from the FCT research project ‘Back to the Future? Populism and the Legacies of Authoritarian Regimes’ (POLAR) (PI: Luca Manucci), which hired me to code more than five hundred Spanish newspaper articles to detect how journalism has contributed to the normalisation of extremist ideas in Spain between 2013 and 2019. After finishing my doctoral studies, I was awarded a research scholarship no âmbito do Plano de Sustentabilidade (2025) of the COST Action APPLY to support the creation of the Argumentation Community of Europe and hired as an Invited Professor at NOVA University of Lisbon (2025). I have published five papers in four different leading peer-reviewed philosophy journals, including one article in Argumentation (Q1), one article in Topoi (Q1), one article in Daimon (Q2), and two articles in Revista Iberoamericana de Argumentación (Q3). I have edited a special issue of Revista Iberoamericana de Argumentación (2024) about the topic of Argumentation in the public sphere. About other research activities: I am the Secretaty of the Argumentation Community of Europe (ACE; https://argumentationcommunity.eu/organisation/#board), I have co-organised multiple academic events, including workshops and conferences; given more than fifteen presentations at international conferences in Europe; managed the website of the COST Action ‘European Network for Argumentation and Public Policy Analysis’ (https://publicpolicyargument.eu/) and the website of the workshop ‘Authority and Metalinguistic Speech Acts’ (https://authoritymetalinguisticspeech.fcsh.unl.pt/) that I co-organised at IFILNOVA (Lisbon, Portugal); contributed to the investigations carried by collaborators of the research project ‘Prácticas argumentativas y pragmáticas de las razones’ (PI: Humberto Marraud) and the development of the topics addressed by the members of the FCT research project ‘Communicative Paths to righting epistemic wrongs’ (PI: Giulia Terzian); I have also published six dissemination pieces in Spanish, and been a reviewer in the journals Topoi (Q1), THEORIA (Q1), Cogent Sciences (Q2), and Kriterion (Q4). About language skills: I have an advanced level of English (C1) certified by Cambridge and an advanced level of Portuguese (C1) certified by the Centro de Avaliação de Português Língua Estrangeira.
