I have a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), Brazil (2018), recognized by the Universidade de Lisboa in 2022 with a final grade of 16/20, and a Master's degree (2022) in Medicinal and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry from the Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa (FFUL) with a final average grade of 18/20. My Master thesis work was evaluated with a 20/20 grade. My bachelor's degree started in 2014 and marked the beginning of my scientific career and path. During this degree, I was involved in a pharmaceutical synthesis project named "Desenvolvimento de glicoconjugados interferentes da interação célula-vírus". In this context, I had the pleasure to present a few results of this project at the 25th EVINCI (Evento de Iniciação Científica) during the 9th SIEPE (Semana de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão) of UFPR. I also took part in professional internships in two different pharmacies (compounding and community) and in the manufacturing section of the pharmaceutical industry. After graduation from UFPR, I worked in a community pharmacy and in the pharmaceutical industry doing quality control, where I had the resources to grow as a pharmacist and chemist. In 2020, I decided to come back into the academic world, so I applied for a Master's degree in Medicinal and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry (FFUL) where I had the opportunity to improve my skills through hands-on approaches and deepen my knowledge of structural, chemical, and biological properties of DNA and quadruplex structures. I also deepened my experience in organic synthesis and computational chemistry. Through my thesis project, I sharpened my skills in computational and organic chemistry, scientific reviewing and writing, and project management. I extended my abilities in synthesis with Dr. A. Paulo and was granted the chance to dive into computational biophysics through the work performed in Dr. Bruno L. Victor's Lab. My collaboration with Dr. Victor also provided me the opportunity to learn more about computational techniques such as Molecular Dynamics through a paid investigation grant for a project named "PAINSpot: Deal with PAINS: strategies to identify membrane modulators". Furthermore, during my master's thesis year, I presented several posters explaining my thesis work at national and international conferences. I was the first author of a paper titled "G-Quadruplexes in c-MYC Promoter as Targets for Cancer Therapy" in Biomedicines (IF: 4.8, https://doi.org/10.3390/biomedicines11030969). Through this paper, I advanced as a scientific writer and reviewer and expanded my knowledge of the intricacies of G4 as targets. Moreover, I co-authored two other papers, one titled "Major Achievements in the Design of Quadruplex-Interactive Small Molecules" in Pharmaceuticals (IF: 4.9, https://doi.org/10.3390/ph15030300) and one in Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters titled "Indoloquinolines as scaffolds for the design of potent G-quadruplex ligands" (IF: 2.8, 10.1016/j.bmcl.2022.128862). I attended the 3D-BioInfo-PT Annual Meeting and the Virtual Winter School on Computational Chemistry, where I had the opportunity to present my thesis work as a selected speaker. Currently, I am working with pyrrolo(4,3,2-de)quinolinone in the project entitled "Tuning the balance between the affinity and selectivity in DNA-G4-targeting molecules using a multidisciplinary approach" with FCT grant number 2023.01798.BD.
