Pedro Almeida (25 years old) was born in Lisbon and grew up in Benavente, Portugal. [2012-2015] Studied Artistic Production (Ceramics) at António Arroio Art School. [2015-2019] Completed a Jazz Drumming course at the Luiz Villas-Boas Jazz School (Hot Club Portugal). Had private lessons with drummers such as Bruno Pedroso, Joel Silva, Pedro Viana, Luís Candeias, Pedro Felgar, João Monteiro, and Gonçalo Santuns, and studied with musicians like Bruno Pernadas, Gonçalo Marques, Bernardo Moreira, Luís Cunha, César Cardoso, Joana Machado, and Daniel Bernardes. [2017-2020] Has a bachelor degree in Musicology at NOVA-FCSH. During this studies, he completed an internship in Film Soundtrack Composition at CESEM, where he composed original music for the short film "Evasão – Invasão" (1986) by Fernando Galrito. [2021-2023] Did a master's degree in Musical Arts at NOVA-FCSH. During his master's program, he completed a professional internship at the audiovisual production company TOCA, where he worked as a composer and music producer. This internship resulted in his thesis: "Acoustic Ecology and Sound Pollution in the Ocean: Application in Musical Composition for Audiovisual Media." [2021-2022] Participated in the international project: Itinerant Musical Composition Classes (IMCC), which included two artistic residencies in Bourges (France) and Paris (France). [2022] Received a Research Scholarship from CESEM for the project "Portuguese Contemporary Music Groups and Composers: Preservation of Collective Heritage." In this project, he restored audio files from the digitization of magnetic tape recordings from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation archive. This work was dedicated to the recovery of live concert recordings held in Portugal in the 1970s, promoted by the programmer Madalena Perdigão, including some of the first performances in Portugal of works by composers such as Iannis Xenakis. Since the age of 16, he has worked as a professional musician (drummer and percussionist). He is a founding member of the bands Ossos D’Ouvido and Zazu Lab. In addition to these, he has collaborated with various artists and musical projects, such as Rita Onofre, Tainá, Picas, A Sul, Francisco Vicente, Eunice Barbosa Quartet, Big Dave's Band, Rope Walkers, The Mik, Inês Marques Lucas, among others. In parallel, he has been involved in music education (private lessons and workshops/masterclasses) as a teacher of Drumming, Percussion, Musical Composition, Music Technologies, and Jazz. ¿He currently resides in Lisbon, Portugal, and works as an artist, musician, composer, and drum teacher. He recently became a research member of CESEM (Center for the Study of Sociology and Musical Aesthetics) and GIMC (Contemporary Music Research Group), where, in partnership with NOVA-FCSH, he works in the process of restoration and preservation of the magnetic tape recording archive of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
