Beatriz Cantinho is Assistant Professor at the Theater Department at the University of Évora, integrated researcher at CHAIA, and collaborator at CIAC laboratory at the University of Algarve. Her artistic and research work focuses on a critical analysis of movement with aesthetic/political dimension, as an expanded choreographic practice, which supports her research and artistic creation. As a choreographer and researcher, she mostly develops her work in collaboration with other artists and researchers, exploring an interdisciplinary composition in the areas of dance, performance, visual arts, sound and digital arts. Currently, the Atlântico Project is being developed in collaboration with the choreographer and researcher Túlio Rosa, the project is financed by the GDA Foundation and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, with a set of research, artistic creation, curatorship and scientific production activities in partnership with several Portuguese and foreign artistic institutions. Her most recent publications of artistic-scientific nature in 2022, carried out in collaboration with the choreographer and researcher Túlio Rosa, appear in the Performance Research Journal (UK) - On Un (Knowns), Ad Extra - and in the a.pass editions (BE) - Atlantic Archive. Another publication that characterizes her recent scientific production was the Project 'Erehwon: A Digital Platform to Empower Sociopolitical Interventions in the Public Space' in collaboration with designer Dr. Dima, in Palgrave Macmillan; Book Global Cultures of Contestation, Mobility, Sustainability, Aesthetics & Connectivity (2017). Recently, she integrated the scientific committees of two international conferences TEPe and 4th EIRPAC, 2022 and 2021 respectively. Beatriz was a post-doctoral researcher in the ARTEA program University of Castilla-La-Mancha/Museu Reina Sofia/EM (2016/17). She holds a PhD in Dance and Aesthetics from ECA, University of Edinburgh and was a Visiting Scholar at N.Y.U/TISCH (2010/2011), in the performance and film departments. Her work translates an extensive set of artistic and scientific productions, knowledge transfer and dissemination activities, developed individually or collaboratively, and presented nationally and internationally in renowned scientific and artistic institutions and programs. 2023/05/10 - 2023/05/10 "Where are we?" was presented on Day 1 of #ELIAAcademy2023 in Évora. This workshop was about how one can create connections with the place where you are, how you can look and unveil lost, forgotten, or erased stories. Our territory was the city of Évora and we wanted participants to experience its landscape and soundscape, and their own bodies, from a situated perspective. That perspective will derive from a script and instructions that we provide the group with, guiding them through this journey.
