Inês Caria is a PhD student at iMed.ULisboa (Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon). Her background includes a bachelor in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a master in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine. Currently, her main focus is to clarify the cytoprotective mechanisms of neuronal specific-CYP46A1 that may correct autophagy and mitophagy defects, and ameliorate neuroinflammation and cholesterol intracellular trafficking in Niemman's Pick type C1 Disease. So far, her work has been translated into several poster communications in national meetings and in an international conference and a recent publication in a journal. During her academic journey she continues to actively participate in activities that involve promoting science to younger generations (promoted by ¿Ciência Viva¿), as well as in participating in the iMed.ULisboa Postgraduate Students Commission (ipSC) responsible for organizing the yearly iMed.ULisboa Meeting.
