Brígida Teixeira has an academic background with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the Engineering School of Polytechnic of Porto, completed in November 2014 and November 2019, respectively. Her Master's thesis, titled "Multi-Agent Systems Society for the Study of Energy and Power Systems," aims to promote semantic interoperability between heterogeneous systems. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering with a focus on Intelligent Systems at the University of Salamanca, Spain. Her Ph.D. research is centered on "Explainable Contextual Models for Automated Machine Learning in Power and Energy Systems,". This research work takes advantage of the recent advances in the XAI field to develop solutions that use the generated explanations not only to support the user interaction with power and energy systems but also to feed and improve the learning process of automated systems by facilitating the interpretation of the (mis)match between expected model outputs and actual outcomes. Her research is supported by an FCT PhD Grant from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), and is developed within the scope of the research unit Research Group in Engineering and Intelligent Computing for Innovation and Development (GECAD), an ISEP unit classified as excellent by the FCT, and The Bioinformatics, Intelligent Systems and Educational Technology (BISITE) Research Group from University of Salamanca. In her research, She has been a contributor to various projects, such as the MAS-Society project, focusing on semantic interoperability in multi-agent systems for energy systems; the TradeRES, focusing on designing new markets for a renewable European power system; the DOMINOES, aimed at developing advanced operation models for smart distribution grids; the DREAM-GO, which focuses on enabling demand response for efficient and market-based smart grid operations through real-time simulation approaches; and more recently the PRECISE, which deals with cyber-physical solutions in power and energy systems. These projects underline her active role in advancing research in applying intelligent solutions for energy systems, smart grids, and renewable energy markets. As a result of his scientific activities, she published 27 articles, 6 of which were in international scientific journals, 4 book chapters, and 17 in international scientific congresses. She also contributes to the academic community as an Invited Assistant at the Engineering School of Polytechnic of Porto, where she has been teaching since 2020. Her teaching assignments include Planning and Decision Making and Machine Learning subjects in the Master of Artificial Intelligence Engineering program.
