GONÇALO ANDRÉ MOÇO FALCÃO (Lisbon, 1969) is an Designer, bachelor in Design (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, 1992), Title Of Specialist in Design (Polytechnic Of Castelo Branco; title, awarded by polytechnic higher education institutions, proves the quality and special relevance of the professional curriculum in a given area) and PhD on Design (Faculty Of Architecture, 2015). Currently engaged in a Post-doc reserch. Assistant professor of Design at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon (FA.ULisboa) where he develops his teaching activity (since 2008), in the bachelor, master and PhD courses in the Design department; other teaching activity in the design courses of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and University of Algarve. Was coordinator of the master course in Communication Design in FA.ULisboa and is responsible for several Curricular Units in different research levels (bachelor, master and PhD) Develops his research activity in Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD) of FA.ULisbo where he is an effective researcher. Coordinator of DHisto Research Group based at CIAUD. Scientific curator of the exhibition “´The world will go on being not quite as it was´ 100 years of Portuguese graphic design in the Carlos Rocha Collection” (“’O Mundo Vai Continuar A Não Ser Como Era’, 100 anos de Design Gráfico Na Coleção Carlos Rocha” no MUDE (MUDE - Museum Of Deign And Fashion, Lisbon). His research area is in Arts and Humanities with an emphasis on design history and historiography. Author of several scientific articles and book chapters in his research areas. Advisor of master and PhD students. Had 25 years of professional practice as a designer, leading a design studio in Lisbon (ideia, designers, 1992-2017). The studio's work has been honoured in international books and shown in exhibitions (ex: Barcelona Disseny Hub and Triennale di Milano). Two books have also been published in Portugal with monographs of the studio's work. Research areas: design production; history of communication design, design historiography, empirical studies, the process of scientific production in design, the peer review process in design, communication for social causes. Member of the Portuguese Designers Association since 1992, I was a member of the organizing committee of Icograda’94; founded (with Gonçalo Freitas and Marta Pereira) the first regular newsletter from APD. I was on the board of directors of the Association from 1995 to 2003 (with Luís Carrolo, Henrique Cayatte and Gonçalo Freitas).
