EDUCATION Robert Vinten completed his Ph.D. in 2018 at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He has an MA in Philosophy (2000) from Georgia State University (USA) and an MA Hons in Philosophy (1997) from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the FCT (CEEC) project Power, Prejudice, and Perception: A Wittgensteinian Approach to Epistemic Injustice (DOI: 10.54499/2022.01699.CEECIND/CP1725/CT0037 ). He was previously postdoc research fellow in the project Epistemology of Religious Belief: Wittgenstein, Grammar and the Contemporary World (PTDC/FER-FIL/32203/2017) at Universidade Nova and he is affiliated to the IFILNOVA (EpLab), research unit at Universidade Nova. He is the author of the book Wittgenstein and the Social Sciences: Action, Ideology and Justice (Anthem Press, 2020) and he is also the editor of the book Wittgenstein and the Cognitive Science of Religion (Bloomsbury, 2023). A symposium, discussing his monograph, has been published by the Canadian journal Cosmos + Taxis. He has published many articles in journals such as Topoi, Philosophical Investigations, Teorema and Critique (as well as several book reviews for journals including Nordic Wittgenstein Review, Wittgenstein Studien, and Religious Studies) and has written several chapters for books. He has been cited in several books - (i)Toril Moi's Revolution of the Ordinary, (ii) Joseph Agassi's Ludwig Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations, and (iii) Michael Temelini's Wittgenstein and the Study of Politics - as well as in several journal articles. TEACHING: He taught three seminars about hinge epistemology and religion (via Zoom) at the University of Porto in the spring of 2020 and also gave a seminar at Porto in 2021. He lectured at a college in Henley-on-Thames (UK) for seven years ((2006-2013) - Philosophy and Critical Thinking), where he also supervised student projects (see below). He was a seminar tutor at the University of Reading for four years (leading in hundreds of seminars), and has lectured (Critical Thinking) at Georgia State University (U. S. A.). Robert Vinten has a PGCE (2008) from Oxford Brookes University (a teaching qualification). SUPERVISION: While teaching at the Henley College Robert Vinten supervised a large number of student projects for students (aged 16-19) working on the Extended Project qualification. Students generally wrote a dissertation approximately 5000 words long - on philosophical, political, economic, or literary topics. Robert then graded those projects for the exam board (EdExcel). CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION/ORGANISATION He has organized several events recently. In September 2021 he was co-organiser of the Charles Travis Masterclass within the ERB project. In February 2021 he organized the 3rd ERB lecture in the FCT project Epistemology of Religious Belief: Wittgenstein, Grammar, and the Contemporary World. In 2020 he helped to organize the 2nd and 3rd ERB project workshops and presented a paper at the second workshop. He has participated in many conferences - in the UK, the US, Portugal, France, Spain, and Argentina. He participated as PhD Student in 1 project, as a post-doc in another project, and is currently a post-doc in a CEEC project. In addition to writing articles, book chapters and books, Robert has also worked as a proofreader. He had done proofreading on many academic articles and has also worked as a proofreader on several books. He has worked as a translator - translating Nuno Venturinha's article 'Philosophy in Times of Crisis' from Portuguese into English - and has also helped in translating several pages of Wittgenstein's MS 105 from German to English (with F. Franken Figueiredo). He has worked as a reviewer for the journals Mind (2014), Nordic Wittgenstein Review (2018, 2022), Análisis: Revista de investigacion filosofica (2021), and Cinema: Journal of Philosophy and the Moving Image (2021) and for the Cambridge University Press 'Elements' series of books (2022).

2010/09 - 2013/06 I supervised a large number of student projects from college students (aged 16-19) taking the Extended Project qualification. Students could choose to write a dissertation (approx 5000 words), compose a musical or dramatical piece, or create an artefact. I generally supervised students writing dissertations and then graded their work for the exam board (edexcel) at the end. I gave students suggested reading relevant to their dissertations, helped them to write bibliographies, and instructed them in how to write footnotes.
