Marta Esgalhado is a researcher at CBIOS (Lusófona's Research Center for Biosciences Health Technologies) and professor in the Nutrition Sciences degree at Universidade Lusófona. She is full member of the Ordem dos Nutritionistas. Marta graduated in Nutritional Sciences from the Instituto Universitário Egas Moniz (Portugal 2010), a master's in Clinical Nutrition from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal 2015), a Ph.D in Cardiovascular Sciences from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil 2018), and a postgraduate in General Management from the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics da Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portugal 2020). Marta has published 17 articles in international and national peer-reviewed journals, totaling more than 500 citations. She has several communications at national and international scientific conferences, and is currently supervising 2 final works in Nutritional Sciences degree. Marta's expertise is in the field of Nutrition and Nephrology, focusing on topics such as oxidative stress, inflammation, intestinal microbiota, and the role of Food as Medicine in patients with chronic kidney disease. Marta's main research interest currently is the relationship between different eating habits, particularly plant-based diets like Vegetarian and Mediterranean diets, and their impact on body composition, metabolic markers, and the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
