Margarida M. Marques is an ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Didactics and Educational Technology, specialising in Science Didactics, at the University of Aveiro (UA), CIDTFF - Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers, in the DEP - Department of Education and Psychology. She secured her current contract in the 5th edition of the national Call for Individual Scientific Employment of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), where she won first place at the Education Panel. In this context, Margarida is conducting the project entitled "Young citizens' EduCITY - Smart and sustainable cities with Augmented Reality mobile educational games made by and for Basic Education students" (https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.02153.CEECIND/CP1720/CT0037). Margarida is also a member of the coordination team of the CIDTFF Programmatic Funding Projects (2020-2023) "SKG - Smart Knowledge Garden" and "OESC - Open Education Smart Campus" (https://www.ua.pt/pt/cidtff/page/26651) and integrates the LCD - Laboratory of Digital Contents and the CIDTFF Group 2 | Science, Technology and Innovation. Margarida's research interests include: i) innovation in Science Education: artificial intelligence towards learning, digital game-based learning integrating mobile devices and augmented reality; ii) science literacy (e.g., sustainable development, climate literacy); and iii) teacher professional development (initial and continuous education). Her h-index is 10 in Scopus (https://goo.gl/ynTnrP) and 15 in Google Scholar (https://goo.gl/3af4WR), revealing relevant knowledge production with impact on the academic community. She has also co-organized several initiatives of KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION for the public, particularly for schools and accredited teacher training. Margarida has received 3 AWARDS, 1 national and 2 internationals, being the most prestigious one the 2018 ECIU Team Award for Innovation in Teaching and Learning of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU). Her previous PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND includes: i) from January 2019 to August 2023, contract researcher at UA-CIDTFF; i) from July 2016 to January 2019, research fellow of the EduPARK project (http://edupark.web.ua.pt/?lang=en) at UA-CIDTFF; ii) from March 2015 to June 2016, research fellow of the Clima@EduMedia project (http://climaedumedia-en.weebly.com/) at the University of Porto; and ii) from 2004 to 2014, teacher of Biology and Geology in several Portuguese schools, teaching Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 (students aged 11-18). She also has some experience as a teacher in English schools (London).
