Rui Salgado completed his Habilitation in Atmospheric and Climate Physics in 2020 and PhD in Physics in 2006 ,by the University of Évora, Master (1996) and Degree (1992) in Geophysical Sciences - Specialization in Meteorology, by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. He is currently Full Professor at the Physics Department of the University of Évora and Director of the Institute of Research and Advanced Training (IIFA, The Doctoral School of the University of Évora). He has been a member of the University's Academic Senate since 2022, having been part of the General Council from 2020 to 2022. Since 2023, he is member of the Joint Research Commission of the new EU GREEN Alliance of European Universities. Currently integrated researcher at the Center for Sci-Tech Research in Earth System and Energy, he was the coordinator of the Evora Pole of the Institute of Earth Sciences (ICT) between 2019 and 2022. His research activity focuses on atmospheric modeling with applications to the study of surface-atmosphere interactions, boundary layer, impact of lakes on climate, prediction of solar radiation, high precipitation events, aerosol dispersion , fire propagation and pyro-convection. He has been the principal investigator of several regional, national and interregional research projects and supervised several students (5 PhD and 10 MSc) and postdoc researchers (4).
