Kim Carlotta von Schönfeld is currently Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Bergen, Norway. She is also collaborating researcher at the Research Centre for Territory, Transports and Environment (CITTA) at the University of Porto. She is carrying out the project Mobile Worlds, with fieldwork in Bergen, Norway and Porto, Portugal, exploring artistic methods in the co-creation of cultural identities and alternatives for mobility planning. She is also responsible for some supervision and teaching. Her most recent previous job was as researcher at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Research Culture Space and Memory (CITCEM) at the University of Porto. Kim holds a PhD in Land Use Planning from Wageningen University. Her dissertation is entitled 'Planning with Roots and Wings. Critical and constructive reflections on social learning in planning', which she defended successfully in 2021. She holds a Research Masters in Urban Studies from the University of Amsterdam (2015), including an ERASMUS Semester in 2014 at the University College London, and a BSc in Human Geography and Planning from the University of Amsterdam (2012). She followed Bachelors courses in Spanish Philology and Latin American studies at the Free University of Berlin (2013) and did several internships in public outreach and research institutions. Kim is passionate about social and environmental justice and sustainability, and seeks to address the related challenges through critical and constructive research, creativity, and public engagement and co-creation. She has published in peer-reviewed academic journals on the subjects of participatory governance, streets as public spaces of mobility, social learning in co-creative planning, critical innovation studies, degrowth and post-growth in relation to planning. She has experience in teaching by giving lectures and student workshops; organising and supervising a student excursion from Wageningen to Paris; creating, supervising and grading assignments and tests; and supervising BSc and MSc theses. Kim won six individual research grants, among which the current grant for the MSCA Mobile Worlds project. She did her PhD as part of a large Dutch-funded research project, and participated in a large project proposal for a Horizon Europe project, as well as two smaller proposals, one for FCT (Portugal) and one in collaboration with a local Portuguese NGO for participatory planning involving youth. She was also part of a funded grant for a New European Bauhaus Project, Minante, carried out with a local NGO, RioNeiva, in the North of Portugal. Kim works in the areas of Social Sciences with emphasis on Participatory Planning, Social Learning, Governance, Urban Studies, Cultural Geography, Economic and Social Geography, Political Sciences, Organisation Theory, Mobility and Transport Planning and social aspects thereof. At her current job she is increasingly incuding Arts and Humanities in her research and public outreach activities.
