Over the last years his research activity has been focused on environmental science and food chemistry, quality and safety. More specifically, the analysis of conventional and emerging contaminants. The analysis of these contaminants is achieved through the development and validation of new methodologies taking into account the last innovative and environmentally friendly sample preparation techniques. The ultimate goal of his research is to improve the knowledge about contaminant occurrence, persistence, and bioaccumulation. Contribution to lay down defensive and precautionary regulations in food and natural ecosystems and also identify markers of human impact on the environment. Armindo Jorge Alves de Melo.
