M. Francisca B. B. de Alvarenga researches on the areas of Gender Studies, LGBTQIA+ Studies and Queer Theory, Literature, and Cinema, and Horror Studies. She is currently working on her PhD project, at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, where she is writing a dissertation connecting Memory Studies and Gender Theory to the representation of female hauntings on Victorian and neo-Victorian cinema and literature. She is a Collaborator at CEComp (Centre for Comparative Studies), at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisboa. She is a member of the Editorial Team, and recently became one of the Chief-Editors, of the open access online scholarly publication estrema. She completed her MA in Intercultual Studies at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, with a thesis on bisexual identity and expression and its historical silencing, using film and media analysis. She was awarded her BA in Arts and Humanities with a Major in English Studies at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon. She has been developing research within the areas of Cinema, Literature, and Media with a particular interest for intersectional relations of power and resistance, necropolitics, identity politics, and queer representation.
