Frederico G. d. V. Duarte has a BSc degree in Applied Chemistry and a MSc degree in Bioorganic Chemistry from the Faculty of Science and Technology - NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal (www.fct.unl.pt). His work has been focused on Inorganic Chemistry namely the entrapment of highly hydrophobic fluorescent compounds into polymer films, micro and nanoparticles as innovative emissive smart materials and nano-sensing for biomedical imaging applications. During his formation, he was able to work in the BIOSCOPE Research Group (www.bioscopegroup.org) from which two papers were published in Dyes and Pigments - Elsevier (IF 4.613). Other work include two oral presentations and two poster presentations in several conferences, from which he was also member of the organizer committee. He has also attended the IX Hands-on Course in Sample Preparation Using Nanoparticles for Proteomics and the summer school scholarship provided by the PROTEOMASS Scientific Society and the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (www.fct.pt), respectively. Regarding prizes, F. Duarte has recieved an Excellent Communication Award and a Merit Award given by the PROTEOMASS Scientific Society and the Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ).
