My research focuses on Plant Sciences, specifically the cellular and molecular processes involved in Sexual Plant Reproduction. Plants possess remarkable regulatory mechanisms for their reproductive processes, leading to successful seed formation—a critical event in plant life cycles. Understanding the complex biological factors that control plant reproduction is essential for advancing agricultural productivity. A deep knowledge of the molecular processes that finely regulate plant reproduction can significantly enhance crop yields and improve the quality of seeds, our planet's primary food source. I earned my BSc degree in Biology in 2016 from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP), and completed an MSc in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology at the same institution in 2018 (4-month secondment in ITbM, Japan). In 2024, I obtained my PhD in Biology with a thesis titled “A Sweet Affair: The Importance of AGP Sugars in Plant Reproduction” at the SPReD Lab (LAQV/REQUIMTE-FCUP). During my PhD, I focused on the arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) found throughout the reproductive tissues of A. thaliana and explored how AGP glycosylation influences reproductive processes. With 12 publications in Q1 journals I am actively engaged in national and international R&D projects (FCT, La Caixa, Marie Curie Actions, H2020). In 2023, I joined the Plantech group at the Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina, Universidade Católica Portuguesa (CBQF-UCP), where I work as a Researcher and Project Manager within the European H2020 RADIANT project (No. 101000622).
