CRISTINA FREIRE is a Full Professor at the University of Porto (Portugal), in the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Since 2th April 2019, she is the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and member of the Management Board of the University of Porto since 24th April 2019, and member of several Councils at the Faculty or at University of Porto, and since January 2023 she is President of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto. Since January 2020, she is member of the European Academy of Sciences (EURASC, www.eurasc.org) and since July of 2023 she is corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (ACL). She is member of the Coordination Council of the Materials Center of the University of Porto (2017-) and she is Researcher at Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde at REQUIMTE (LAQV@REQUIMTE) . She is the scientific coordinator of Thematic Line FUNCTIONAL MATERIALS, and belongs to the Research Group - Materials for Sustainability and Wellbeing. Her own research group is Catalysis & Functional and Smart (nano)Materials. She was Member of the Management Committee of COST ACTION CM-1203 Polyoxometalate Chemistry for Molecular Nanoscience (PoCheMoN): http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/cmst/Actions/CM1203 (2013-17) and Member of the Advisory Board of the program: UT Austin|Portugal, International Collaboratory for Emerging Technologies, CoLab (2015-17). Co-founder of INNOVCAT Ltd, a technology-based start-up (March 2015) with U.Porto Spin-Off seal, aims to carry out research & development, production and commercialization of solid catalysts and innovative functional materials for industrial applications in several areas (www.innovcat.pt). She is/was PI of several national and international projects.
