Raquel Viveiros is a RESEARCHER at LAQV-REQUIMTE|NOVA School of Science & Technology (NOVA SST). She develop work in the field of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Chemical Engineering in particular in Chemical Process Engineering, using clean and environmentally-friendly solvents/technologies, such as supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2). Raquel Viveiros has a Master degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (2010) and a PhD in Sustainable Chemistry (2017), in a close collaboration between NOVA School of Science & Technology (NOVA SST) and a pharmaceutical company (HOVIONE) with an academia-industry PhD fellowship (SFRH/BDE/51907/2012) from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior (FCT-MCTES). During this period, she collaborated with the Biotechnology group of Prof. Sergey Pilestky at the University of Leicester (United Kingdom) in solid phase synthesis and in the application of computational tools for the development of affinity materials. She has a total of 30 (inter)national publications (10 in the last 5 years), 2 that does not include PhD supervisors, co¿authoring with different international groups (Spain, Germany, Italy and UK) and 2 patents; over 619 total citations and a h-index 14. Since her PhD, she has been participating in several technology transfer programmes: (2016) COHiTEC, (2018) MERCK Innovation Cup Summer Camp and (2020) R2Value. Since the begining of her scientifc path, she has been seen work be awarded several times, the most relevant are: (2023) "Papers@USA" - November 2023, Travel Grant (2023/CON0013/CAN001) from Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento (FLAD); Invited to integrate the Taskforce GreenLabs commission for Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) standard implementation, to improve the sustainability and efficiency of laboratories at NOVA SST; (2020) 1/7 junior research positions (from 197 candidates) in the 3rd Edition of the International Call to Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC-IND, 2020.00377.CEECIND) from FCT-MCTES; (2019) 3rd edition of Almada City Research Award; (2018) Excellence Award in Fluid Separations by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) and 1st edition of the Young European Universities (YERUN) Research Mobility Award; (2017) 11th DNA Cascais, Ideas and Business; and (2011) SHIC´11 - Solvay & Hovione Innovation Challenge. She has been developing her research independency under her CEEC-IND position, as the main supervisor of a MSc student in Biomaterials & NanoMedicine (NOVA SST), in collaboration with I3S|U.Porto. Moreover since 2020, she is the main supervisor of a PhD student, Ana Furtado (grant SFRH/BD/150696/2020) in the aim of the International Year of the Periodic Table - a protocol established between the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) and FCT-MCTES. On what concerns international collaborations, she has supervised several students during their internships from the Universities of Bologna and University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene-Algeria. Concerning international recognition, she has been part of commissions of trust as Invited Guest Editor (Special Issues at the Molecules and Processes journals), and belong to Editorial Board as Topic Editor of Liquids. She has been Visiting Researcher at Florida (USA,2023), Dublin (Ireland, 2019) and Leicester (UK, 2014). Her multidisciplinary professional experience covers the areas of green chemistry, organic/analytical chemistry, molecular recognition, molecular imprinting, polymer synthesis and processing, process development, surface engineering, catalysis, pharmaceutical purification and biopurification processes. Since 2021/2022 academic year, she has given lab classes at the Chemistry Department|NOVA SST within the Master degree on Biomaterials & NanoMedicine in curricular units of Polymer Synthesis for Bio-applications and Drug Delivery Systems.
