Ana Maria Rocha (AR) graduated in Physics Engineering from University of Aveiro in 2002. After working in the industry for a short period of time she joined Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in 2006 and completed her master degree (2007) and PhD (2012) both in Physics Engineering from University of Aveiro. Currently, she is a Research Scientist (contract) in Instituto de Telecomunicações, and also collaborate with the Universidade de Aveiro as a lecture. She has participated in 17 R&D projects being the Principal Investigator of two of them and the co-pi and local coordinator of another one. She has authored or co-authored of more than 85 publications, including 34 papers in international peer review journals, 5 book chapters, 45+ papers in international conferences proceedings with peer review. She is also involved in the supervision and training, supervising or co-supervising of 3 PhD thesis, 7 MSc dissertation and 11 works of Degree completion. She is a regular Reviewer of top journals of the area (such as: Optics Express, Optics Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics). Furthermore, she has participated in project proposals evaluation process as an expert evaluator for the European Commission and for National Science Centre Poland. Her main current research interests include high-capacity optical communications, Spatial Division Multiplexing system, wideband optical amplifiers, optical fiber devices and optical sensors. The experience gained all over the years gave her high level of scientific and technological expertise in both experimental and theoretical fields. She has hands-on experience in the design, production, implementation and characterization of optical components and fiber optics sensors. Experience in theoretical modeling and simulation being regular user of programming languages and Modeling Software (Matlab, Comsol Multiphysics, etc).
