Beatriz Pedrosa Cepa

Beatriz Pedrosa Cepa is a PhD Student and Research Assistant at the High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab), INESC TEC, and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. From 2017 to 2022, she pursued a degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minho, specializing in Medical Informatics, and graduated with a Master's degree in December 2022. During this period, she held the position of Vice-Director of the Recreational Department at Gabinete de Alunos de Engenharia Biomédica (GAEB), where she actively contributed to the organization of the XVI Biomedical Engineering Summit at the University of Minho. In March 2023, she enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Informatics at the University of Minho and concurrently joined INESC TEC as a Research Assistant at HASLab. By May 2023, she assumed the role of Student Representative in the Course Committee of the Doctoral Program in Informatics. In March 2024, she joined the School of Engineering Board at the University of Minho as a Student Representative. Finally, in February 2025, she started her position as an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. She obtained a B2 Certification in English in 2016, which was awarded by the University of Cambridge. She presented and published her Master's Dissertation work at the IEEE Portuguese Meeting on Bioengineering 2023. Additionally, she published one journal article and two preprints and presented one conference poster at the European Dependable Computing Conference 2025. She organized one event as an association member and gave three workshop presentations at the University of Minho. She is also a reviewer for the journal "The Gerontologist". Her participation in the 2024 ACM Europe Summer School on HPC Computer Architectures for AI and Dedicated Applications provided her with additional knowledge of HPC applications and specifics, which will prove very valuable in developing her PhD. She was awarded a Certificate of Honor for Outstanding Performance at this event. She co-supervised one Master's Dissertation and is currently co-supervising three more.

2024/09/02 - 2024/09/06	The 2024 ACM Europe Summer School on HPC Computer Architectures for AI and Dedicated Applications took place in Barcelona. Over five intensive days, we dove deep into a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including the convergence of HPC & AI, RISC-V systems, distributed applications, LLMs, and quantum computing. The lectures provided a comprehensive look into the future of these fields. A highlight of the week was the hands-on sessions with the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer.
