I am a researcher in neuroscience with experience in the immunology field, especially in the context of cerebrovascular diseases. During my PhD and my postdoc experiences, I have acquired important knowledge about ischemia, animal models and behavior in the context of cerebrovascular diseases. My career started on 2005 as a PhD student in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. After completing a short postdoctoral stage at Research Institute Germans Trias I Pujol (Badalona, Spain), I did a postdoctoral period at the prestigious University of Cornell, New York, before joining the Champalimaud Foundation (January 2019), where I got a position from the FCT Stimulus of Scientific Employment to work as a Researcher Assistant. Along all steps of my career, I have been strongly involved in obtaining fellowships and funding to support myself and the research projects in my hosting labs. Apart from obtaining competitive felowships during my PhD (“Xunta de Galicia- Ayudas de tercer ciclo” and “Ayudas predoctorales de Formación en Investigación-Instituto de Salud Carlos III” from the Spanish Ministry of Health) and my postdoctoral steps (“Sara Borrell- Instituto de Salud Carlos III” from the Spanish Ministry of Health), during my whole career I have been involved in grant applications to fund my research projects. As a result, I have participated in 12 competitive national and international projects. Remarkably it must be highlighted my role, during my postdoctoral research in USA, in collaborating to obtain 2 NIH (National Institute of Health of United States of America) grants (R01 NS09450701A1 and R01 NS100447-01). These two grants strongly guarantee the finance support of my hosting laboratory with $370,781 and $707,310 respectively, per year for 5 years (from 2016 to 2021). As a result of my participation in these projects, I have achieved an extensive record of publications (45) and conference communications (45), in addition to one international patent. I have accumulated a total of 45 published papers in peer-reviewed journals, 16 as first author with a total impact factor of more than 200 points. My H-index is 26 (Google Scholar) and my papers have been cited a total of 2640 times. Besides the number of papers, the quality of my publication record has been progressively improving, being, in the last years main author of papers in Nature medicine (first co-author, 2016) and Nature Neuroscience (Second author, 2018).
