Professor Associado nivel 3 do Departamento de Informática e Matemática Aplicada (DIMAp) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), membro permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sistemas e Computação (PPgSC), bolsista produtividade em pesquisa do CNPq, líder do grupo de pesquisa REGINA (Research Group on Future Internet Service & Applications) e representante da UFRN no Laboratório Nacional de Redes de Computadores (LARC). Durante seu ano sabático (2023-2024), atualmente está como pesquisador visitante no departamento de Ciência da Computação da UCF, em Orlando, EUA. É IEEE Senior Member e IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer (DL) para o período de 2023-2024. Realizou dois estágios pós-doutorais no Instituto de Telecomunicações, pólo Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal) em 2008/2009 e 2015/2016. Foi professor visitante na Universidade de Bern (Suíça, 2016), na Université Evry Val d'Essonne (França, 2015), e no Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra (Portugal, 2009), e monitor na Universidade de Coimbra (2008). Doutorou-se pela Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal (2008), e realizou seu mestrado em Ciências da Computação na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2001). Sua produção intelectual compreende mais de 100 trabalhos, de patentes a artigos científicos publicados em bases bibliográficas na área de redes. Atua regularmente na organização de eventos internacionais, envolvendo conferencias (CNSM, IWCMC, HealthCom, LATINCOM, WGRS, ISCC e outros) e workshops (S4SI, MOBISLICE, SBCUP). É membro do comitê eHealth da IEEE ComSoc. É revisor regular em várias conferências e periódicos. É coparticipante e coordenador de projetos de pesquisa financiados por agências de fomento nacionais e internacionais. Seus interesses em pesquisa incluem: redes 5GB, O-RAN, Cidades Inteligentes, Internet do Futuro, Cloud-to-things continuum (cloud, edge e fog computing), IoT, SDN e NFV.
