Dr. Luís M. P. Lima holds a Degree in Technological Chemistry from the University of Lisbon (FCUL, 2001), and a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the NOVA University of Lisbon (ITQB, 2009) working under the supervision of Prof. Rita Delgado. After completing his PhD, he was a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (Brest, France) from 2010 to 2011 and then at ITQB NOVA from 2011 to 2018. Since 2018, Dr. Lima has been a Research Associate at the ITQB NOVA within the group of Dr. Royo, working in several projects exploring the coordination of transition metal cations to polyamine ligands for potential applications in Medicine and Biology. Dr. Lima is co-author of 39 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (3 as corresponding author), 1 book chapter, 2 international patents (1 pending), 10 oral communications, and 28 posters. He has received almost 1200 citations with an h-index of 20. He was a visiting PhD student at the Charles University in Prague (CZ, 6 months), and a visiting Researcher at the Western Sydney University (AUS, 1 month). Over the last five years (2018 to date), Dr. Lima has co-authored 11 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 of them as corresponding author, receiving over 600 citations with an h-index of 15. He was also the co-author of a filed international patent request, pending approval. He was the co-author of 3 oral communications and 1 poster. During this period, he was Supervisor of 2 Master students and has tutored 4 visiting students (2 undergraduate, 1 Master, and 1 PhD). In 2021, Dr. Lima was co-recipient of the Early Career Researcher Award from ITQB NOVA. He holds several national and international collaborations, including with chemists Raphaël Tripier (UBO, France, since 2011) and Feng Li (WSU, Australia, since 2017), and also with microbiologist Catarina Pimentel (ITQB NOVA, since 2019). Despite being a full-time Researcher, Dr. Lima has recently been involved in teaching activities both at ITQB NOVA (Lab course, Integrated Laboratory Practices II, Master degree in Biochemistry for Health, 2020 to date) and at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Invited Lecturer, Chemical systems and Reactivity, Master degree in Chemistry, 2020 and 2021). Dr. Lima has participated in several funded research projects, and is currently the Principal Investigator of an ongoing FCT-funded exploratory project targeting "Azole metal complexes as a promising source for new antifungals" (2022.04565.PTDC).
